Adjustable Desk Light
Coral bleaching, wave breakers, artificial reefs and biomimicry were sources of inspiration for the ideation of this functional, yet mechanically simple, adjustable desk lamp. It represents an exploration of Design as a communicative and persuasive medium, illuminating current issues and technologies with originality and character.
Overgrown Coffee Table
Intended as a centerpiece to a modern ecocentric space, this coffee table aims to emphasize the beauty of naturalized materials like rusted or corroded metals and lichen-covered rock. To ensure ease of production the body is made of cast stone, which is then intentionally overgrown with a selection of lichen. The overstated rusty bolt and nut reinforce this pieces postmodern, environmentalist character.
Vertically Stacking Chair
Achieving completely vertical stackability while ultilizing wood as a primary material was the main goal of this exploratory project. These constraints lead to an iterative design process and defined aesthetic details throughout. Magnetic hinges collapsing the back rest allowed for more design freedom while providing further compactness and maintaining stackability.
Single Leg Chair
The aim of this project was to conceptualize a dining chair for a modern alpine setting. This was done by emulating the aesthetics of flora common to this region - the dwarf pine - as well as showcasing the subtle beauty found in local materials such as pine wood. While inspired by nature, the project was structurally informed by cantilever style chairs of the 1920s.
Tapering Dining Table
Cut from naturally rusted, reclaimed angular steel beams this dining table evokes thoughts of weathered industrial structures of a by-gone age. These associations of decay and industry are sharply contrasted by a youthful, diverse colour palette, as well as a playful and non-conforming inward leaning taper of the legs.
Raisable ‘Work Desk’
This hybrid between a desk and a workbench attempts to portrait the storied aesthetics of reclaimed wooden vice as found on old woodworking benches. Coupled with a smooth, modern metal surface, this ‘work desk’ represents the envisioning of an ideal work table for designers and other creatives. The desk is mechanically raisable by threaded axis inside the legs, the rotation of which is transferred via spiral gears onto a wooden crank.
About Me
I am a product designer currently based in Munich, Germany, with a special interest in furniture design and sustainability.
My designs are influenced by my love of nature and my backgrounds in art, sociology and market research. I aim for the products i create to tell a story, while also representing my belief that ‘ecocentrism’ and human-centered design are two of the most important aspects of a designers’ job today.
I wish to in the future keep learning about design related topics like innovative materials, artificial intelligence and bio-mimicry. My goal is to become part of a multidisciplinary, diverse and passionate design team.
A defining characteristic of mine is that I find almost all areas of research and culture interesting. Biology, computing, the arts and politics are some examples of topics that fascinate me and in which I keep finding relationships to product/industrial design. I am a highly empathic critical thinker, who works precisely and is excited by challenging projects.
